In Bohemians, players embody artists wandering the streets of Paris at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. They attempt to create masterpieces while navigating the challenges of everyday life. In Bohemians, players collect cards to gather inspiration, seek muses, and handle mundane, necessary tasks.

In each round, players plan their daily schedule, deciding whether to go on a date, attend a social event, meet their muse, create new art, or... go to work. Each card offers different bonuses and inspiration, so carefully managing your cards and the order in which you play them is crucial to accumulating as much inspiration as possible. Players then spend their inspiration to buy cards and build their deck with new habits, inspiring muses, or new career milestones. The artist who collects the most achievement cards from the achievement deck wins.

The Bohemians prototype garnered 3 nominations and 1 award (Best Presentation, Best Innovation, Best Game) at Fastaval, Denmark's largest convention for board games and role-playing games.

    Ontwaakfase

    In de ontwaakfase plant elke speler de dag. Alle spelers trekken tegelijkertijd gewoontekaarten tot ze er 5 in hun hand hebben. Vervolgens spelen ze
    deze op hun routinebord om aan te geven hoe ze hun dag gaan invullen. Als alle spelers deze stappen hebben uitgevoerd, eindigt de ontwaakfase.

    Je routine plannen

    Dit is het opwindendste deel van de dag: invulling geven aan je leven als
    kunstenaar! De zon is op, inspiratie komt (of niet), en het is tijd om te
    beslissen hoe je de komende uren doorbrengt. Je laat je leiden door gewoontes, zoekt inspiratie en ziet tegenslagen onder ogen.

    Dagfase

    Een voor een, te beginnen met de startspeler en daarna met de klok mee, stapt elke kunstenaar in de schijnwerpers om de dag opnieuw te beleven.
    In deze fase vertelt elke speler wat er die dag is gebeurd, telt inspiratie, en gebruikt die om nieuwe kaarten en/of succes te kopen!

    Slaapfase

    Als de zon ondergaat en de dag ten einde komt, is het tijd om je omgeving op
    te ruimen, je gedachten te resetten, en je voor te bereiden op wat morgen kan
    brengen.

    Solomodus en coöperatieve variant

    • Kunst voor de kunst:
      Deze uitdagende solovariant blijft dicht bij de regels van het standaardspel en is eenvoudig voor te bereiden. Het is aan jou als solospeler om het spel te verslaan binnen een beperkt aantal beurten. Zal je genoeg successen behalen om herinnerd
      te worden? Of zal je naam in de vergetelheid raken?
    • Tijdgeesten:
      In deze scenario's gebruik jij als bohemien je kunst om te vechten tegen een specifiek benauwend aspect van de heersende cultuur waarin je leeft,
      vertegenwoordigd door een monsterlijke tijdgeest. Kan jij deze sinistere krachten
      verslaan, in het belang van ons allen? Elk tijdgeestscenario stelt eigen unieke
      voorwaarden voor winnen en verliezen, en speciale regels voor de voorbereiding
      en het spelverloop.
