In Tokaido, you'll be a traveler in ancient Japan. You'll follow the prestigious Tokaido—a road between Kyoto and Edo (present-day Tokyo)—and strive to gain the richest and most fulfilling experience possible along the way. You'll trek through beautiful landscapes, sample culinary specialties, shop for souvenirs, relax in hot springs, and experience unforgettable encounters.

Tokaido uses a time track mechanism where the player furthest behind on the track takes their turn. When you're the active player, you can move your character as far forward as you like (with mandatory stops at inns) and receive a different set-collecting advantage each time you visit unique locations.
