Stamina is used in the form of Stamina tokens, but these are also flipped to the wound side when your Hero takes damage, reducing the amount of Stamina available. Each turn, your Hero performs an action (such as attacking, healing, or strengthening your abilities) and a maneuver (such as moving, meditating to regain precious Stamina, or recovering to heal your wounds), in any order. Choose wisely, as your choice of action also affects your turn order for the round, and coordinating your actions with your fellow players is crucial. Fight Each Hero has one or more actions that allow them to make an attack by rolling dice and spending stamina. Attacks can be melee, ranged, or magic. Melee and ranged attacks require a weapon, and a good weapon will enhance an attack. Each Hero has a selection of different attacks to choose from that can be customized on their hero board between scenarios. Each enemy attack has a set value and is tied to one of three Hero skills: Strength, Dexterity, or Will. The attacked Hero must test the corresponding skill to try to block the attack. Damage is taken by flipping your Hero's valuable stamina tokens to the wound side. Too much damage can injure your Hero, resulting in a wound. Some enemy attacks can inflict a negative condition, such as Bleeding or Entangled, which they must overcome to continue their heroic deeds.

Revamped Action Board: The largest of the new additions, consisting of three double-sided pieces that can be flipped over to reveal different actions depending on the number of players. This opens up new paths to action and increases the chance that players will get in each other's way. The board includes new features such as slaughter, elk hunting, fishing, and theft, along with adjustments to some old actions. For example, it's now easier to play an animal strategy, as you can now get two of the same animal in one action. There's also a new fifth column of (better) actions that only require one Viking. For example, you can now forge a gray special tile with a sword value of 8 or less using an ore and just one Viking! Another brand new single-Viking action is to perform a "small emigration" with a whaleboat, which covers one space at the feast table instead of two, but yields 7 victory points and costs no silver. As a bonus, you can send two Vikings to this column instead of one, allowing you to play a profession card in addition to the action. Compile is a two-player mathematical card trick-taking game based on Cassino. The deck consists of cards numbered 1 to 15 in 4 different suits, making a total of 60 cards. In the setup, each player is dealt 4 cards and 4 cards are placed face up in the middle. Players take turns playing a card from their hand and trying to take as many other cards from the middle as possible. Aces are worth one point each, and two lucky cards are worth three points if captured – the 3 of triangles and the 10 of diamonds.
