At the start of each turn, players have a certain amount of energy to bid with, for an ever-changing pool of cards known as the Mortal Plane. This number is equal to the current number of suns in the sky. But every time Houyi appears, more Suns are closed and players have less and less energy to bid with them. Players can use other forms of energy, such as lunar energy from the moon or other gods, in short: engine building.
